Ces derniers temps, une information largement relayée sur les réseaux sociaux affirme que la République démocratique du Congo (RDC) aurait été intégrée à une nouvelle organisation de défense internationale, comparable à l’OTAN, regroupant les États-Unis, certains pays européens dont la Belgique. Selon cette rumeur, cette intégration justifierait la présence de soldats belges sur le sol congolais et expliquerait l’acquisition par la RDC d’avions de chasse F-22.
Une information totalement infondée
Cette affirmation est totalement fausse et dénuée de tout fondement. Ni la RDC, ni la Belgique, ni les États-Unis n’ont annoncé l’existence d’une telle organisation militaire incluant la RDC. Les coopérations militaires internationales de la RDC restent bilatérales ou régionales, sans intégration dans une alliance de défense multinationale comparable à l’OTAN.
La présence belge en RDC : une mission de formation, pas un déploiement militaire
La Belgique a confirmé la présence d’un petit contingent d’une dizaine de soldats à Kindu, dans la province du Maniema. Leur mission est strictement limitée à la formation des Forces armées de la RDC (FARDC) dans le cadre d’un projet européen de renforcement de la paix. Il ne s’agit en aucun cas d’un déploiement militaire offensif ou d’une participation aux combats.
L’acquisition de F-22 : une impossibilité légale
Par ailleurs, les États-Unis interdisent par la loi la vente ou le transfert de leurs avions de chasse F-22 à tout pays étranger. La RDC n’a donc pas pu acquérir ces appareils, contrairement à ce que prétendent certaines rumeurs.
Les Congolais doivent se méfier des fausses informations qui circulent et s’appuyer sur des sources officielles pour comprendre la nature réelle des coopérations internationales en matière de défense. La RDC n’est pas intégrée à une alliance militaire internationale de type OTAN, la présence belge est limitée à une mission de formation, et l’acquisition de F-22 par la RDC est impossible.
La vigilance face à la désinformation est essentielle pour préserver la stabilité et la confiance dans les institutions nationales et internationales.
