Le nom même du festival, « UMOJA », qui signifie « UNITÉ » en swahili, incarne la volonté profonde de renforcer la cohésion sociale et de bâtir des ponts entre les communautés souvent marquées par des tensions. Dans une région où les défis sécuritaires persistent, ce festival se veut un symbole d’espoir, un espace de dialogue et de réconciliation à travers l’art.
Cette année, le festival prend une dimension toute particulière en s’inscrivant autour de deux dates historiques majeures : le 30 juin, jour de l’indépendance de la RDC, et le 1er juillet, date commémorative de l’indépendance du Burundi. Au Burundi, surnommé le pays des Hirondelles, les préparatifs battent leur plein.
